Ways Andrew Dobson Is A Jackass To People #12: Accuusing a Trans Person of Being a Nazi AND Lecturing Her on How They Need to be a Better Trans Person

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea where to even start with this. I thought we hit a new low with the whole thing he pulled with TotalBiscuit’s death, but…fuck.

On the first fucking day of Pride Month, no less. Something you’d think he’d realize if he was a big an “ally” as he claims to be.

Okay, deep breath…let’s try and get this out the best way possible.

So today, Dobson posted a number of political cartoons with the amount of subtly and wit you’d expect from someone like him. I’ve made a post about already, but for the sake of having as much information in one post as possible, here’s the comic and his original comment.

Typical Dobson, right? And even if he butchered the point as much as humanly possible, you could kind of see where he was coming from. I could even understand some people agreeing with the core message.

And then this happened.

(Note: I’ve gone out of my way to specifically avoid mentioning or linking to Dobson’s tumblr up until this point. I didn’t want him to start claiming harassment or indirectly sending people there to message him, no matter how much of an asshole he can be. But I think we’re past that point now.)

“Leave it to a Nazi”. His immediate response to someone disagreeing with him and not even directly insulting him is to call them a Nazi and claim he made the comic because of “people like them”.

Now that itself would be pretty fucking bad, but I’d like you to take a look at the tumblr header of the person he called a Nazi.

He accused a young trans person of being a Nazi simply for disagreeing with him.

She were understandably shocked and upset with Dobson for saying so, and even pointed out how utterly ridiculous it was to accuse her of such.

So you might be thinking to yourself “oh, Dobson just didn’t know this was a transgender person he was talking to. I’m sure he’ll just apologize and make up some excuse of how he just instinctively reacted to what he thought was an alt-right troll.”, which would probably be his best bet at this point right?

Remember when I said he’d hit a new low?

He calls her a Nazi AGAIN and even implies that she’s not a very good trans person if she’s disagreeing with him. Once again, on the very first day of Pride Month.

She gets one more response in before he pulls his “take that!” comment and blocks her.

And even when people point out the stupid offensive thing he just did…

And if you think this setup sounds familiar, you’d be right! Remember when he lectured a young trans girl about not appreciating KorraSami enough? Only this time is obviously way more fucked up.

So there you go. Not even a week after Dobson tried to shame TotalBiscuit and make his death all about him on the day of TB’s death, he tells a trans woman she’s not being a good enough trans woman, and calls her a Nazi multiple times.

And that’s the true and honest Andrew Dobson/Tom Preston, everybody.

Your daily reminder that Andrew Dobson is a complete and total asshole with a severe lack of self awareness.

And he calls himself an ally. 😒

That’s the thing, he’s not actually an ally. As several posts on @hypocrisyofandrewdobson“s blog points out he only uses the “LGBT Ally” excuse to keep his rampant lesbian fetishization from being exposed as exactly that. He doesn’t care about anyone in the LGBT community unless they further his means or turn a blind eye to his bullshit. He’s no better than the idiots who claim to speak for a certain group only to turn around and pull shit like this. He’s basically the PETA of comic artists.

My opinion of everything I saw is this…I’ll start off with the simplest thing, Dobson is an asshole and seems to lack critical thinking skills. He can’t seem to fathom a different way of thinking no matter how tame and simple it is. What that scenario showed is two people who find nazis to be idiots, they have common grounds and opinions but one wants them to be able to speak up so the world and themselves can see just how stupid they truly are, They are not defending nazis, they merely want a proper situation to show the nazis how dumb their views are. Dobson can’t comprehend even the slightest opinion not being aligned with his however so he immediately sees the other person as the enemy, an enemy of his being a nazi. He didn’t even consider the argument or think of it, he just saw it wasn’t his and bashed it. That’s stupidity at its finest,

On to the topic of what his comic entailed, there is some logic in that. The part I agree with is that at times you really can’t meet in the middle with something and some point of views just have no weight to them and thus they shouldn’t really get any sort of victory. There is clearly the extreme example in the comic where someone wants full blown genocide, the other does not, the middle ground is some people dying instead of all which didn’t help anyone and the asshole still won while the good guy lost but even in non extreme things where the issues aren’t black and white, sometimes meeting in the middle simply will not solve the issue and you need to fully change the thing if you want to make any sort of difference. So on that specific topic I partially agree, at times you really shouldn’t meet in the middle and not all view points have equal weight because one can be based on ignorance and not understanding something so its really not something that should be accepted to fix an issue it doesn’t understand.

However I agree with the quote unquote ‘nazi’ that regardless of the views, they should be allowed to speak them. Unless they have done something bad…let me repeat that, DONE, has done, has taken a physical action that was bad, merely saying something dumb is not involved here, they still should be treated as people and at least be allowed to argue their points. Now if they held racist views and then lynched a family over their race then fuck them, they have no right to speak and should be rotting in jail but if they are just a racist dick head then just treat them like an idiot, having a discussion opens up the possibility of showing the world, as well as the dick head, just how wrong their views are because now they have to defend them and explain them and unless they have their heads too far up their ass they will most likely realize they have no idea what they are talking about and change it. I know this because I have been the dick head, not a racist one but still someone who was ignorant but fully convinced of my opinion until I had to argue it and I realized how stupid I really was. Due to seeing a lot of tumblr posts on the subject my opinion on gun control was “Ban all guns, no one needs gun, no one has guns and no one can shoot the guns so no deaths”. While seeing posts where people with my previous views that could not defend or argue them for shit helped me what really showed me I was wrong was when someone I knew talked about guns and I argued with her, yet I could not really argue against any of her points and ended up getting to emotional and heated and essentially became a blabbering asshole. I was so sure of myself yet I couldn’t even calmly have a discussion or even explain my thoughts or why I disagreed with theirs, that really made me think about my position, now I am the opposite. Actually having a discussion opened my eyes to my ignorance and made me realize I was talking out of my ass and my views had no weight to them, just imagine what such an eye opening experience could do for other people who are merely suffering from ignorance and are truly capable of accepting different opinions if actually give the chance to experience them.

Another thing that makes me adamant about actually allowing people, regardless of views, talk is that I have seen a tumblr post where it described a black guy who befriended a number of KKK members, sorry, FORMER KKK members and he managed to change their views and thus they changed as people. They were hateful, bigoted, they hated him for merely his skin color, a minor feature of his being and just by being nice and treating them like humans, he made them give up their hateful ways and be friends with them. A black guy, made a KKK member stop being a KKK member, merely by being friends and treating them like people. again, just think of how that would affect other people if they were treated as such. Their is evidence that it works.

Another note is that even if they have shitty views now doesn’t mean they will hold them forever. The racist dick bag of today could be a leading voice in civil rights between all the races of the world of tomorrow because a lot of shit happens in life that changes you and you of today will not be the same as you in several years. A homophobe who thinks homosexuality is a sin today could be openly bisexual and happily in a same sex relationship tomorrow, I know this as fact because that is me. When I was younger, due to my church, I thought homosexuality was evil, then after a while I relented and didn’t think it was evil but it was a choice, then I realized it wasn’t a choice but I was definitely straight, now I am bisexual with more of a liking for males than females. I went from “Gay is sin” to “This awesome guy is my husband! <3″, I am not the same person from the past. If someone met younger me and completely vilified me, refused to acknowledge me and forever treated me as a homophobe, eventually they’d be seeing a bisexual man who is happily dating a guy as a homophobe because they refuse to accept that I changed. People can change, people’s beliefs can be changed, give them the chance to change, help them change, treat them as another person who may have a flawed view on something and help them understand it a little better.

One final note is that his whole portrayal of a discussion is very dangerous and dumb in my opinion because it really encompasses the flaw in how people talk about things today. There is no longer Side A and Side B, its the Satans who wish to destroy the world with their only evil views to hurt people and the angels who are right. Regardless of what each side’s views are, it seems today that all you see is people who think only they are right in everything and are the good people while the other side is only wrong and every point they have is malicious. On gun control, Side A wants more lenient gun rules, this isn’t because they are gun toting assholes who want the ability to murder large droves of people with AKs, they want a better opportunity to defend themselves and feel that the current system makes that harder. Side me wants stricter rules, this isn’t because they are trying to disarm everyone so they can take over and rule unopposed, they feel threatened and want there to be less opportunity for a dangerous person to get a hold of a deadly weapon to gun them down. Both sides have reasonable view points and reasonable reasons to feel the way they do, regardless of who is actually right both are just people who fear for their safety and are looking for a way to secure it but nowadays it seems people are incapable of viewing them as such. Nowadays its “My opinion is the right one no matter what, those who disagree with me are the most extreme version of what I think is bad!” and that is not a good thing…

Sorry for the long winded reblog, likely hard as hell to read through and I probably explained myself poorly but I felt the need to give my thoughts and regardless of if you agree or disagree I at least am thankful that you took the time to read what I said.

I think you did a really good job explaining the major flaw in Dobson’s overall argument, actually. It’s very well thought out. Kudos.
